Growing plants for decades
Formally known as Seedling Transplants. There is a long history of plants that have been grown at this location spanning over 40 years.
The former operation specialised in the propagation and supply of veges and herbs for commercial growers here in Canterbury.
We took over the business in December 2023 and changed the name to The Treehouse Horticulture. We have started the long list of upgrades to infrastructure, machinery and previous processes that were quite labour intensive. We have been focussed on growing Nz natives for years now with a passion for riparian and regenerative plant supply.
Here at The Treehouse we are in the process of expanding our operation to include Nz natives, exotics, fruit trees and various veges and herbs. We do have a big job ahead and as we grow and try to revitalise this plant nursery back to its former glory we will be adding to our current range of services and plants available.
Our aim is to reinvigorate this nursery to supply a wide range of plants at a reasonable price. Schools & Community Groups
Here at The Treehouse Horticulture we are passionate about supporting local schools and community groups with their gardening projects based around educating both young and old and growing their own produce ready for the plate.
During the month of April 2024 we had a plan to donate a few winter veges throughout the local community.
We supplied truckloads of veges to a bunch of local schools so the kids could learn to grow and eat what they had cared for during the winter period to take home and share with their families and friends.
We have heard all sorts of stories of kids keen to get into the garden and learn about the joys of growing things they can eat.
We also donated to a bunch of local Christchurch community groups who do an amazing job establishing and maintaining community garden spaces, educating people about growing their own food, supporting those in need and much more.
It was an amazing experience hearing the stories from the people on the ground and the plans for their garden projects and how they would benefit many different groups of people both young and old.
